FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Synchrologic Announces First Total Systems Management Solution for Handhelds and Mobile PCs

New Tools Add Software Distribution and Systems Management Capabilities to iMobile Suite

PALM DESERT, Calif. (March 6, 2000) - (www.synchrologic.com) Synchrologic today announced at the Mobile Insights 2000 conference the addition of mobile device management capabilities to its iMobile Suite. The new features enable an administrator to view hardware and software inventory information across a company's complete mobile population, including laptops and mobile devices based on the Palm OS or Windows CE.

With research estimating the total cost of ownership of a handheld computer at $2,700 a year and more for a laptop PC, IT managers need to be sure these mobile units have the applications and power to be productive tools for users and a good investment for the enterprise.

The new systems management capabilities are included in Synchrologic iMobile Software Distribution, a product within iMobile Suite, and complement its core electronic software distribution functions. iMobile Software Distribution provides a centrally-managed console for packaging and distributing software applications to mobile users.

"With iMobile Software Distribution, managers can make sure mobile users have everything they need, even though managers may not see these mobile devices for weeks or months at a time," said Bill Jones, vice president of product management and marketing for Synchrologic. "The ability to manage handhelds and laptops with the same system is key, because virtually every enterprise is dealing with a mix of devices. Having one tool that can view the whole mobile landscape makes administration easier."

The addition of hardware and software asset tracking enables administrators to intelligently manage distributing the correct software releases and updates to the correct machines. Further, alerts can be set to notify administrators if, for example, users run low on memory or have not synchronized with the server in a certain number of days. Administrators now have the ability to track the number and type of each mobile device they have, the version of the operating systems they are running, free memory, total memory, and other hardware-specific inventory. Additionally, administrators can review the software applications, versions, and databases installed on each device.

In keeping with iMobile Suite's total mobile solution for enterprises, this is the first solution to provide the ability to manage mobile systems across both laptop and handheld populations. iMobile Suite's complete management capabilities for laptops and handhelds also include iMobile File Distribution, offering reliable, cost-effective and fast file distribution and collection from mobile users; and iMobile Data Synchronization, providing quick synchronization to the latest corporate information.
