Synchrologic Keeps Web Portals in Sync
with Handhelds
iMobile Suite for Portals Will Deliver
Web-hosted Information to Palms
PALM DESERT, Calif. (March 6, 2000) - (www.synchrologic.com) Synchrologic, Inc., today announced at Mobile Insights 2000 that it will soon offer iMobile Suite for Portals, software that delivers information from Web-hosted applications to handhelds.
Using iMobile Suite for Portals, users can synchronize their Palm OS and Windows CE handhelds with Web-hosted sites that store contact information, calendars, to-do lists, shared files, and other personal management information. The information on the Web site syncs directly with the handheld's native applications. Additionally, user's shared word processing or spreadsheet files on the portal can also get synchronized to the handheld device.
"With the growing popularity of both Web-hosted applications and handheld computing, it's important to have products that can allow portals and handhelds to share information," said Bill Jones, vice president for product management and marketing for Synchrologic. iMobile Suite for Portals has been licensed by incTools, a company that offers Web-hosted applications for managing corporate contacts, calendars and files. "Extending our portal to handheld computers is a natural for us," said Tim Dumler, VP of Product Development, incTools. "We evaluated other options, and Synchrologic's technology will allow us to sync a PDA with our site from any Internet-connected PC. We expect that the entire effort to mobilize our web portal product will take 3 man-weeks. In addition to having great data synchronization, iMobile Suite for Portals enables us to manage shared file distribution to our handheld customers, and we also get tools for managing software distributed to the devices."
