Indus and Synchrologic Form Strategic Alliance to Provide Data Synchronization and Asset Management

Partnership Gives Clients Ability to Seamlessly Update and Retrieve Vital Company Data

ATLANTA-October 9, 2001 - Managing and controlling cost in inventory management and order fulfillment can be overwhelming for companies that purchase enterprise-wide resources across multiple locations that are not connected to a central server. Synchrologic and Indus International (NASDAQ: IINT), have signed a strategic alliance agreement for a joint solution that creates ease when synchronizing data across separate instances of Indus' EMPACTM software solution. The agreement will allow Indus clients to improve access to and accuracy of critical operating data across disparate sites. This capability will enable real-time decisions that can boost productivity while reducing excess inventory and unplanned maintenance.

The impetus for developing the partnership was mutual customer Transocean Sedco Forex Inc., which required a software configuration between Synchrologic's iMobile Suite and Indus International's EMPAC product. Transocean Sedco Forex has been using the Synchrologic software to maintain its network of EMPAC databases since September of 2000.

Many Indus clients are in capital-intensive industries, such as utilities, oil and gas, and pulp and paper. In order to maximize product efficiency and minimize inventory and overhead costs, these companies must optimize the use of their maintenance operations. This partnership expands the possibilities for clients using the Indus EMPAC solution who do not have the option to localize their data on a centralized server but still need an enterprise solution to manage their assets. The expanded functionality of EMPAC through the integration to iMobile Suite will make it possible for these clients to house the critical data required to run the maintenance components of their businesses. Reducing the data processing time should lead to a more productive, accurate, efficient work force, which can result in increased returns.

"Essentially, this joint solution will help our clients with multiple instances of EMPAC to manage the equipment, facilities, and processes that make their operations run," said Robert Hofer, Vice President of Product Strategy for Indus International. "We chose to build a configuration to the data synchronization module of the iMobile Suite because it ensures a more timely and accurate exchange of information for EMPAC clients with disparate sites. But just as critical, during implementation it allows our customers to maintain existing business-processing rules that enable different levels of information access to people in various roles within the company." "Partnering with Indus is a win-win situation for both companies," said John Dancu, President and Chief Operating Officer of Synchrologic. "It allows us to extend our mobile computing solutions to new industries, giving us exposure to a broader customer base, while providing Indus clients a single, complete solution for easily and readily accessing information and standardizing operating procedures. This enables new and prospective customers to work faster, cheaper, and smarter."
