Flexible Publish and Subscribe

Synchrologic offers the most powerful and flexible model for assigning specific users and groups to receive specific materials. Administrators are not limited to providing the same sets of materials to every user based on their domain. Any user or group can be assigned to any publication in any combination. Users and groups can imported or synchronized with a variety of directory services. File sync "publications" are specified by the administrator and may contain any combination of files, directories, or web pages. Then specific users and groups can be subscribed within a simple drag-and-drop interface. More complex requirements such as dynamic file name resolution, or data driven query rules are also supported.

Great User Experience

The most important part of the file sync solution is the end user experience. We keep it simple for the end user, automatically cleaning up old files and managing delivery of new file versions. The user has a simple option from our client application to view all files delivered and easily link to them. Publications can be specified as optional, so that the user can select only those materials relevant to their needs. The user can also choose to NOT receive file updates during low speed wireless synchronization, instead deferring them for the next cradle sync. This is accomplished automatically without the need to switch settings back and forth for each environment.

Automatic Change Management

Synchrologic File Sync streamlines the administrative load by automatically noting when files have changed, and pre-packaging them for upcoming sync sessions. The people and departments responsible for content creation can work as they do now, storing files as they do now. An automated scanner engine proactively surveys the network periodically for new and updated files that meet publication specs. When changed files are discovered, they are packaged for later transmission. If the file is an update (not a new file) a byte-level differencing process captures just the changed bytes for transmission...thus a 3MB document that had one paragraph changed may only result in 3K of changed bytes being sent to clients, where the file will be rebuilt. This byte-level differencing process is also a multi-step process, so if files change more often than users sync, they still benefit. Finally, our unique web site spidering technology makes specifying delivery of web content extremely easy.

Ultra-Efficient Communications

The above packaging efforts represent the effort that takes place before the session to ensure efficient communications. In addition, a variety of other features take place over the wire or airwaves during the sync session to guarantee streamlined communications. These include check-point restart, bandwidth throttling, bandwidth sensitive restart vs. retry and packet size settings, and other wireless optimizations for high latency, low reliability networks.

Synchrologic File Sync offers an intuitive and powerful set of tools for managing remote content delivery. A quick wizard walks administrators through creation of new file publications. Detailed logging information makes it easy to resolve the status of particular publications, delivery results for particular users, and other common troubleshooting and management questions. Publications can be as simple as downloading a single file, or can be quite complicated with nested logic, script execution, dynamic determination of filenames, or parameterized file specifications. Regardless of the business need, a comprehensive set of standard download "actions" is available, each with extensive configuration options. The result is that 95% of your file distribution needs are accomplished without coding, and in the rare instances where scripting is required, standard VB script is used instead of proprietary scripting languages.
